Description
I was home from work earlier today, so I picked a slightly more complex image to work from. Indeed, this was the sort of picture I'd completely lose myself in, and if I'd had a day to spend on it, I'd have added all the details of the hair, the plants on the left, and so on. I might even have tried painting it instead of doing just a pencil drawing. I don't quite have time for that, so instead it gets some quick inks slapped on. It's... not quite as satisfying, but necessary for clarity and to stay close to my comics-drawing process, which all art I do has to support somehow.
Even with the rush to completion, this was a lot of fun to do: the folds of the dress, the 1908s Janet Jackson hair, the model's face, the framed art in the background that was a poster for some sort of early 1970s rock festival (I'd like to have another crack at this drawing just to draw that background properly) and the plant on the side. Lots of interesting stuff. Wish I could do it all more justice.
